Tech Support: After Install / Uninstall Permissions Issues

After Install / Uninstall Permissions Issues

Two months ago I attempted to install some programs on my Laptop running 64-bit Windows Vista.
The install worked but the program would not launch and I went into the program files to check for answers.
I discovered that every single file in the program
folder was installed with no ownership or rights given to me.
To make it work I had to maually give myself ownership and then full control to make it work.
Ever since that point, whenever I install a new program the same thing happens.
To further complicate things I unistalled some programs that were already running on my computer and reinstalled them, as a test, with the same effect.
I checked my profile settings and seem to have administartor rights but am not sure why all newly installed programs seem to take away my access?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as it is very annoying and time consuming to try and give myself ownership for each file installed.

Hi Jetgrind74,

Thank you for posting on the forums.

That does sound kind of odd and from your description, sounds like you might have a corrupted profile.
Let’s try creating a new Windows account > Give that account admin rights > Logon to that account and see if you’ll still the same issue to
replicate.  If it doesn’t, here’s an article that guide you through on how to
Fix a corrupted user profile
