The project I am working on involves a VBA application developed in Excel 2010 that connects to other Excel 2010 files via ADO and makes updates.  I actually have a working version of this application being used by a team today. 
I am working on a new version of the application that involves a number of changes in the source Excel files including:
 
1.      Usage of Excel tables – the old source files were just normal worksheets
2.      Macro enabled – the old source files had no macros
3.      Data connections for lookup data to Sharepoint lists – the old source files had static lookup tables
 
I updated the application to deal with these new variables.  However, when I run the update now the source file becomes corrupted with the message “unreadable content”.  When Excel attempts to repair the file it breaks all
of the data connections in the file and therefore causes all formulas to evaluate as #REF.  The actual update of records worked, however, in this state the file is unusable.
