Active Directory Domain Services are unavailable

Am unable to use my printer.
I get message 'no printer installed' even though it's been working ok for months.
When I click install printer I get the message 'Active Directory Domain Services unavailable'  If I go to Devices & Printers and right click
the default printer, (with the green tick), and then choose 'printer properties' I can click 'Print Test Page' and it does! Cannot print anything at all in word.
I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Is your PC actually networked?
Sometimes its neccessary to disconnect the printer, uninstall any printer software from add/remove, then reinstall printer as per the makers instructions
