i got new HP Pavilion g6-2244sa with windows 8, yesterday pop up window with new update appears.
i selected update and restart, it took a while to complete the update, and after it went to black screen.
Should i force restart or should wait for a while.

From the description, you are facing an issue after installing Windows Update.

To assist you better I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

1)       Have you made any hardware or software changes on the computer prior to the issue?
2)       Do you get any error message / code?

Follow the steps and check,

Method 1: Disconnect the external devices (like printers, scanner, USB (universal serial bus) drives, etc...) except mouse and the keyboard and then boot up.

Now try to boot the computer and check.

Step 1: Safe Mode

Boot the computer in Safe mode and check if the issue persists.

If you are able to boot the desktop, then I suggest you to perform the clean boot.

If you are not able to boot to the desktop, I suggest you to check which the latest Windows Update was installed successfully and which Windows Update was failed to install.
